Turning a passion into a business.

When I started Maddex Interiors a little over two years ago, I was fortunate enough to be able to turn a lifelong passion for design and organizing into a business and career. My first “design crush” was a princess-style canopy bed when I was ten years old and though I never did get that bed, it was just the beginning of my love affair with design and decor.

I’ve had an interest in design for as long as I can remember and the organizing part is, quite frankly, just a part of my DNA, but it took me a while to realize my dream of turning these two passions into something more. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Laws degree from Queen’s University. After university, I chose to pursue a career in marketing and communications with a major Canadian bank in Toronto for close to ten years.

Fast forward a few years and I now have two young children and our family has relocated to Halifax, Nova Scotia. For me, it was the perfect time to pursue new opportunities and so, after earning my International Staging and Redesign Professional (ISRP) designation from QC Design School, I opted for a career change and started Maddex Interiors.

My business is all about transforming spaces but, for me, it’s about much more than just the spaces themselves – it’s about my clients. There’s nothing quite like watching a client’s reaction when they see their newly decorated or organized space for the first time and knowing that I helped make it happen. They no longer have to deal with the frustration of living in a space that no longer matches their needs or style, or waste time searching for items they thought they put somewhere but can no longer find.

That’s why I like to say that I don’t just transform spaces; I help my clients transform their lives…one room at a time.
